Poem: One Way to Put It

Ignorance and not-knowing

Are are as different from each other

As a moonless night is from dawn,
As night and dawn will tell you
If you haven’t already noticed.

What they’ll tell you
(And they say it every morning,
Because we forget),
Is that the daybreak that pulls us from darkness
Isn’t the answer to any question.
It’s rather the birth of a million questions,
Mostly unanswerable
(Well, all unanswerable),
And living without the answers is freedom,
And ignorance isn’t.

If you forget,
Don’t worry.
There’ll be a reminder,

Tomorrow morning.
